Dear Decentered Media Subscribers

I hope you had a good New Year, and the weather isn’t too cold for you.

I am pleased to invite you to our series of online drop-in sessions, scheduled each Wednesday from January 24th to April 24th, 2024. These sessions aim to provide practical insights into the world of community media.

Our sessions will alternate between two main themes. On one week, we will focus on process-related topics such as governance, compliance, and editorial standards. These discussions are intended to give a clear understanding of the operational frameworks that guide community media.

In the following week, we will turn our attention to specific issues, including topics such as the need to support free expression, positive forms of discrimination, and using media for community cohesion.

Our aim is to explore how community media, through channels like community radio, reporting, and social media groups, can contribute to countering misinformation and social fragmentation.

Each session will take place on Zoom, providing a convenient platform for participation, discussion and the recording of our conversations to share as podcasts, allowing Patreon subscribers to access them later at their convenience.

The purpose of these sessions is to offer a space for learning and discussion about the various aspects of community media. We hope these discussions will be informative and foster a better understanding of the role community media can play in today’s society.

Further details and the Zoom links for each session will be sent out soon. We hope you can join us for these discussions and look forward to your participation.

Best regards,

Rob
