Dear Supporter

Each week at Decentered Media, we hold space for thoughtful, purposeful discussion about the role of community media in supporting democratic participation and inclusive communication. Our Thursday 4pm Zoom sessions have become a regular opportunity for subscribers to explore leadership challenges, share experience, and shape ideas that reflect the values and realities of grassroots media practice.

This Thursday, we’ll continue our ongoing work developing a shared language for evaluating community media. As many of us know from experience, the terms used by government and regulators often fall short when it comes to describing the distinctive contribution of community media. Without a consistent or appropriate vocabulary, it’s difficult to make meaningful comparisons or advocate effectively. This week we’ll focus on the ways media supports local citizenship, and how this idea can help us better articulate the civic value of local and community-led communication.

These conversations are made possible through the support of people like you. If you value this work and would like to help sustain and develop it further, please consider becoming a supporter on Patreon. Your contribution enables us to keep these discussions open and independent, and helps us to continue developing resources like our collaborative evaluation toolkit.
